#8 Menu in PINK, second try

Menu

Pink Potatoes and Herring Salad "Oslo"

Petit Four

Raspberry Smoothie

Inspired by All I love's frenzy pinkness I thought I should give another try to Sophie Calle's monochromatic menus. Of course the PINK. The second try. Menus #1 to #7 didn't turn out so bad (even the black!), but pink so far has been an appetite spoiling, ugly fail.  So ugly that it didn't make it into my blog.

This one at least has been delicious!

on inspiration

design and photo by my daughter

The advice I like to give young artists, or really anybody who’ll listen to me, is not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you. If you’re sitting around trying to dream up a great art idea, you can sit there a long time before anything happens. But if you just get to work, something will occur to you and something else will occur to you and something else that you reject will push you in another direction. Inspiration is absolutely unnecessary and somehow deceptive. You feel like you need this great idea before you can get down to work, and I find that’s almost never the case.

peek into a collector's home

I'm happy to have decided to take a break for my exhausted renovation mind. Actually I spent the last days in Munich, super relaxing, brought a bucketful of inspirations  and even got some old silken curtains to take with me which should fit perfectly well into my study...

tits

The renovation of the house has almost come to an end, so has my patience. All I want to do is blog, take pictures, relax, play the flute, cook. All I do is clean, fight the chaos.
Needless to say I'm in a horrible state of mind, exhausted, rebellious. Hence the out-of-nature blog title.

The picture is actually one of my favourites though, I took it in Franchhoek, South Africa, last December and had been waiting ever since for a good opportunity to post it.

fashionistas

Look at the catwalks of NewYork, Paris or Milan. Electric blue is one of THE MUST HAVE COLOURS this spring/summer!
Besides the fashion approach the whole setting reminds me of England, more exactly of the Cumbrian hills next to the Lakelands, where reams of sheep are doing a full time job in turning northern England's landscape into a true postcard...

Cocktail Time

Ladies, get your cocktail dresses from the dry cleaners. Gentlemen, put on your tux and finally invite over Mr and Mrs Fitzsimmons, Dr Gerard Twine-Whistershire and the infamous Lady Upperworth.
From tomorrow my Blog is introducing a new feature inspired by my son: Cocktail Time!
